About David Bennett

20 years experience and 23,000 Individual Treatments

David Bennett originally qualified from Imperial College, London with a degree in Applied Biology and went onto complete the first year of a PhD there before deciding his future lay outside of western academic research.

He subsequently qualified with a Licentiate in Acupuncture in 1996 from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA), Leamington Spa and his strong scientific background has been invaluable over many years in developing a rigorous, reflective and evolving practice.

David has worked in full time clinical practice ever since. He has continually worked to expand and deepen his skills driven out of a desire to be the best he can be for his patients and from a love for the tradition of this ancient healing art. As well as his core classical 5 Element practice, David has extensive experience within the gentle Japanese acupuncture traditions (Toyohari, Shonishin paediatric, Mitzutani and Manaka systems for those in the know). He draws from this depth of experience to provide powerful and effective care.

David is a senior member of the advanced practitioner study group Wider Horizons mentored by Niki Bilton, Canada. He spent many valuable years interning with the founder of CTA, JR Worsley before his death and was an early faculty member of the School of Five Element Acupuncture (SOFEA), London. Before relocating to Brighton in 2000 David worked for 3 years on the first ever NHS acupuncture contract at Kings College Hospital, London. He has also previously run ShuHaRi, a mentoring group for junior acupuncture practitioners, led a successful men’s group in Brighton and is a qualified Life Coach.

And the back of an envelope calculation.. given the average number of people I see a week over my 20 years in practice.. that’s currently around 23,000 individual acupuncture sessions I’ve learnt from. Wow!
